Food Enzyme Supplement
Beano is a dietary supplement that helps prevent gas. Beano is not a drug. Beano is a food enzyme from a natural source that breaks down the complex sugars in gassy foods making them more digestible. What foods does Beano work on?
Beano works on beans, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, peppers, chili, stir-fries, whole grain breakfast cereals and many more healthful foods and vegetables.
Why are these foods gassy?
Foods like broccoli, cabbage and beans are "famous" for causing gas because they contain complex sugars (oligosaccharides) which some people cannot easily digest. These sugars ferment in the large intestine causing gas and distress.
How does Beano work?
Beano, an alpha-galactosidase enzyme, helps break down the complex sugars found in these gassy foods into simple sugars that our bodies can comfortably digest. Thatís why Beano actually helps prevent gas.
How do you use Beano tablets?
Chew, swallow or crumble three Beano tablets per meal with the first bite of food, and that should be enough for a normal meal of three half-cup servings of problem foods. For larger meals, more tablets may be used.
Who should use Beano?
Almost everyone can use Beano. Beano is a natural food enzyme made from a safe food-grade mold. Beano is recommended for adults and for children 12 years and older. Beano is not recommended for use with infants or young children, except on the advice of a pediatrician.
There is no information to indicate that Beano is other than safe for use during pregnancy or during breast-feeding. However, since no studies have been done on pregnant or lactating women, we advise any pregnant or lactating woman to consult with her physician before using Beano.
